Teaching since: September 2020
Iyengar Certification: Level 1
I attended my first Iyengar yoga class at the end of 2012 with my wife, Elaine Greig, and I immediately felt the benefits to my posture, sleep and well-being. When my wife passed her introductory exam, I started attending her own classes twice weekly as well as a more intermediate 2-hour class every Tuesday. I decided to enrol for the Introductory Teaching training programme myself as I saw how much my wife enjoyed teaching her classes and was always struck by the comradery and friendliness of her students, and the enjoyment she brought to the classes.
Tragically, out of nowhere, in November 2018 my wife suffered a sudden brain haemorrhage that killed her instantly. The following days, weeks and months were incredibly difficult, but I continued with my Teacher Training and began to practise yoga almost every day. I passed my introductory exam in 2020 and I now teach my late wife’s classes every Monday and Thursday. It is an absolute honour and a privilege to be able to continue to keep the classes going in her memory. I am so thankful to my wife for introducing me to the world of Iyengar yoga, as it has got me through the most difficult, challenging times and I now can’t imagine my life without Iyengar yoga in it.
