Iyengar yoga basics

iYoga Glasgow supports Iyengar yoga classes and teachers across Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

Getting started

  • Iyengar yoga is suitable for most people.
  • You do not need to be fit, flexible, or experienced.
  • If you are completely new to yoga, start with a beginner or introductory class.
These classes move at a steady pace and focus on safe technique.

Types of sessions

There are a few different ways to practise:

  • Classes: Usually weekly. Some allow drop‑in attendance.
  • Courses: A set number of classes over several weeks. Good if you want regular progress.
  • Workshops: One-off, longer sessions. Often more focused or more intensive. Some have a minimal requirement like having one years Yoga experience.
